After taking in the Houston Space Centre, they headed over to Kemah Boardwalk to check out the rides. Kemah Boardwalk is home to a vintage wooden rollercoaster, which their Uber driver said would be fun…if you find scary fun, that is! That evening, Elizabeth and her cousin did one of the most American things you possibly can – they went to a pre-season NFL game, Texans vs Patriots, which the Texans won.
The “quick shopping trip” back to the outlet stores turned into an all-day event, also visiting The Galleria, a huge two-level mall that has hotels, a rooftop jogging track, waterfall feature and an ice skating rink in the middle of the food court! Because everything in Texas is huge!
Coming home was a bit touch and go but they managed to get the last flight out of Houston before Hurricane Harvey made it inland.
From Elizabeth: "Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and all of Lone Star for THE most amazing opportunity to go to Houston! The hotel was beautiful, the weather was extremely hot (a summer I've never experienced before) everything in Texas is huge but the people are so lovely and friendly. My cousin and I had such an incredible time and since the holiday was extended we also visited New York, Miami, Orlando and New Orleans."
We’re so pleased Elizabeth and her cousin had a great time on their trip. For a little taste of Texas right here in NZ, come see us at Lone Star for a plate of our famous Redneck Ribs.
