Sous Chef


Are you an experienced Senior Chef de Partie ready for your next challenge? We are looking for a confident Sous Chef who can lead a team on the Head Chefs days off. This is a challenging, and exiting role for someone with initiative, energy and passion.

You will report to the Head Chef, and will work closely with our kitchen team to ensure all meals produced to the highest level. We are looking for an individual who has the confidence to provide leadership as well as support to your fellow team members.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa with no less than six months left before it expires.

Job Requirements

You will possess experience:

  • Working in a high volume, high energy, fast paced kitchen.
  • Strong leadership & communication skills with all areas of the restaurant.
  • Teaching kitchen staff correct techniques and cooking procedures to ensure brand standards are high.
  • Attention to detail and monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food prep issues with Managers and kitchen/front of house staff
  • Planning menus for functions
  • Ordering food supplies, and stocktakes
  • Manage wage costs
  • Explain and actively monitor hygiene regulations and Food Control Plan

For this role you will have:

- A minimum of 2 years as a Chef de Partie (Section Leader) level or higher

- A certificate at NZQF Level 4, or a higher qualification, which includes the credit and knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4)

- A Food Hygiene Certificate
- A current First Aid Certificate (Beneficial)
