The Lone Star is famous for providing quality food to our guests using only the best and freshest local produce. The original menu was a combination of comfort food, Kiwi classics and a few Lone Star originals. Some of these dishes from that first menu are still being served today and are as popular as ever. Dishes like the Lasso of Hog, Dixie Chicken and the iconic Redneck Ribs prove that food fads come and go but good food never goes out of fashion.

Lone Star Waitakere is looking for a confident Chef de Partie to join our busy work environment. This is a challenging and exciting role for someone with initiative, energy and passion.

You will be an integral part of the kitchen team working on the grill, pans and other areas of the kitchen. You will need to provide leadership as well as support to your fellow team members.

The team member we are looking for...

  • Satisfy customers by giving them a flawless eating experience.
  • Produce food of a very high standard by following our Lone Star recipes as specified 
  • Able to work under pressure in a high volume environment
  • Have an energetic and passionate approach to their work
  • Must be a team player, reliable and up for a challenge 
  • Be a clear and strong communicator
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
  • Operate in and maintain a clean, orderly and professional kitchen.

For this role you will have:

  • - 2 to 3 year’s experience working on the line in a busy kitchen
  • - A Certificate in Professional Cookery stages 1,2,3 or City of Guilds qualification
  • - A Food Hygiene Certificate 
  • - A current First Aid Certificate (Beneficial)

We are looking for an experienced Bar Tender to join our team here at Lone Star New Lynn. This is a part time role for someone looking for up to 30 hours per week. You must have had previous bar experience, be energetic, honest, and 100% reliable. This is a fast paced role that will require initiative and a bubbly personality.

All Lone Star staff members are responsible for delivering a true Lone Star experience by giving a fast, friendly, personable and memorable service & ensuring that each customer you serve is happy and satisfied.

The ideal candidate will possess previous cafe, bar or restaurant experience including the following....

  • Barista experience
  • Cocktail making
  • General product knowledge
  • Cash handling
  • Stock handling
  • Calm under pressure
  • Customer service ethic
  • LCQ qualifications are preferred but not essential

Kitchen Hand

Within in this renowned company our point of difference has always been the team working for us, at Lone Star a positive attitude and good character is a priority.

Whilst this is a Kitchen Hand role we are looking for someone who wants to work their way up to Chef de Partie. As part of this role you will be trained on Colds & Desserts. If you have the right aptitude there will be scope for advancement. This role would suit someone looking for up to 20 hours a week initially.

As one of our Kitchen Hands it will your job to keep the kitchen’s cleanliness and hygiene at the highest standard achievable by efficiently washing, and sterilizing incoming dishes, pots and pans, and cleaning down all areas of the kitchen.

You will need a strong work ethic, be energetic, and able to work quickly in a very fast paced environment.

Our kitchen hand positions are only evening positions, and you must be available weekends as well as week days. Full training is given.
