Famous for being the first city in the world to see the sun each day, Gisborne is the sunny, ray-of-sunshine at the easternmost point of New Zealand’s north island. It’s a popular holiday spot, with a constant stream of Kiwi’s and international guests flocking to the golden beaches and mountain parks for relaxation and adventure breaks.
And there’s something for everyone: rail biking (trust us, it’s a thing), stingray feeding, nature walks, a little self-pampering at Manutuke Eco Retreat, or watching the sunrise from Maunga Hikurangi—a truly beautiful experience from the highest non-volcanic peak in the North Island. Feeling brave? For a real buzz try the sixty-metre slide down Rere Rockslide.
But no matter your adventure preference, Lone Star Gisborne is always ready to help you relax, refuel, and enjoy a true Lone Star experience. Our team are hospitality pros, making sure you’re comfortable and have everything you need—great quality, tasty food.
You’ll find us in the old Gordon Gecko site on The Esplanade. It’s the best spot in town, quite literally over the water in Inner Harbour. Not short on views (or spectacular sunsets), we’ve created a family atmosphere where you can celebrate birthdays, parties, celebrations or corporate events. Planning a long overdue family night? We’ve got you covered with space for the whole crew, or large groups.
Our restaurant comfortably seats 80 guests but if you prefer the Gizzy heat, the sun-drenched deck has spectacular views of the beautiful marina—dining alfresco has never looked better. The bar stocks gorgeous Kiwi wines, a selection of beers (bottled and on tap), and all our legendary Lone Star cocktails.
