Ambiance and good food in spades
Nelson is one of those places that you take one look at, and you never want to leave. From the sparkling emerald waters of Abel Tasman National Park, to the golden beaches and endless sunshine surrounding the city, it’s no wonder locals love it and tourists want to live it. With plenty of awe-inspiring activities in the region—white-water rafting in Murchison, Te Waikoropupu Springs at Golden Bay, collections from local artists and the Great Taste Trail for food and wine lovers—finding a great value, delicious meal is a must by the end of the day.
The Lone Star Nelson story began in 2004, and since then we’ve had a rockstar team creating an outstanding experience for our customers. Head Chef Bobby is the backbone of our kitchen team with Gardy and Brooke at the helm (two exceptional leaders in hospitality) ensuring that the service you get is second to none.
We know you love ambience, and our open fire, cosy corners and classic Lone Star feel give you just that—an atmosphere you can truly relax in with good people, and great food.
Salsa dancing date nights
We’re next to McDonalds on Hardy Street and walking distance from anywhere in the city. Fairy tree lights, a restaurant full of character, and relaxed night vibes make us a warm and inviting choice whether you’re heading out for date night, a family dinner or a birthday bash. And if you’ve got your dancing shoes on, 9pm every second Friday is live salsa dancing and lessons. The restaurant seats 120 guests, including comfy, private booths. Plus, our bar caters to 80 people, is available for drinks and nibbles, and has a big screen TV for watching all the action.
But it’s satisfied bellies we love to see; our spareribs are iconic to NZ life and our Tex Mex-style meals are positive winners. We cater to all dietary needs so that everyone can enjoy the Lone Star experience—good quality, tasty food, and service you can count on.
