Just a two-minute walk from the Esplanade, right at the end of Wellington Harbour, Jackson Street in Petone is where it’s at. A historical part of town, it’s popular around the region for its dining—there’s over fifty dining establishments. An old township, where history abounds with cottages built for the Ford assembly line, Gear Meat works and the railway meets villa’s and boutique shops. Walkers browse the many shops of Jackson Street including second-hand stores, boutiques, salons and bookshops, or fill their bellies after walking the valley, river and surrounding hill tracks.
It’s a quaint town with a classic case of history meets the future—the rich Colonial past meets the innovation of local artisans. And right there in the middle of it all is our dynamic, eager team. With loads of parking, and the Te Puna Wai Ora artesian water fountain out front, Lone Star is popular for its consistently high level of service and great food.
We know convenience, great service and incredible food are the top of your list. And for 12 years, we’ve been looking after you from when you walk in, to when you walk out the door saying ‘see you next time’. Originally two buildings, we have 22 metres of bar serving up all your favourites. And Lone Star Petone, like the town itself, is filled with history. Sports and musical memorabilia cover the walls so you can take a trip down memory lane—every time you visit. Whether for birthdays, family dinners or any special occasion, there’s plenty of space for functions upstairs in the ‘Petone Room’ (for about 40 people seated and dining), the ‘Void Bar’ (up to 70 people for drinks and nibbles) and 90 people in the main dining area, plus 8 booths.
Locals and their families have created a community that supports us; they adore the fun, great value experience, and a top night out! We channel that support straight back into the valley by supporting many local sports teams like rugby, softball, cricket, bowls, golf and horse racing.
We’re open every day (with no surcharge EVER) for you to enjoy the full Lone Star experience, and there’s no doubt that the Stir Crazy Sirloin, Johnny Cash Stash, Dixie Chicken, Ribs, and the Gerhard Burger are crowd pleasers. Pair them with some of the finest local wines, beers and cocktails and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re in heaven.
